Hidden Sydney: The Glittering Mile

May 30th, 2017

If you’ve never seen a piece of “immersive theatre,” then now is your chance. Get up-close-and-personal with the seedy underbelly of Sydney’s past in Hidden Sydney‘s new production The Glittering Mile.

Clifford Wallace actors Fiona Jopp and Nadim Accari appear in the production, which is billed as an “immersive cabaret.” Audiences wander through scenes that take place all around them, set across four floors in the former brothel The Nevada around a host of colourful, funny and sometimes frightening characters.

We’ve said it before, we love independent theatre, and for a whole Hidden Sydney are doing things that redefine the relationship between performer and audience. It’s great to be part of such a bold entertainment experience, particularly one that’s so tied to Sydney’s colourful history.

The kind of planning and thought that goes into such a fine-tuned production is truly remarkable.

Of his experience, Nadim had this to say: “Everybody works extremely hard to make this production come together so flawlessly and the final product is truly mind blowing… I feel very blessed to be a part of it.”

Fiona added, “The best part about the show is our ability to react and connect directly to audiences, especially in a physical sense!” This truly is fourth wall-breaking theatre.

You can catch Fiona and Nadim in The Glittering Mile, playing as part of Sydney’s Vivid festivities, until June 18th. If you’re keen for even more immersive experiences, then you may want to catch CWA actor Craig Walker in Underground Cinema‘s top secret, live-performance-assisted movie screenings in Sydney and Melbourne.
