It’s been a huge week for Clifford Wallace talent Katrina Papadopoulos. The accomplished young actor, who also works with Screenwise – Australia’s leading film and TV school for actors – was invited to attend an industry event in L.A., the city of stars. The event was the G’Day U.S.A. Gala, of which Screenwise is a major sponsor.
G’Day U.S.A. is a celebration of Australian talent making it big abroad. Looking absolutely gorgeous in a white gown, with some glamorous Old Hollywood hair and makeup, Katrina (along with her Screenwise colleagues) was rubbing shoulders with some very important figures on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre (which will play host to the Oscars next month!) on Hollywood Boulevard.
The event was attended by important Australian and American stars like John Travolta, Damon Herriman, Baz Luhrmann, Teresa Palmer, Nicole Kidman and Paul Hogan. Also in attendance were Australian politicians, hoping to draw international productions to Australia, which means more and bigger opportunities for our wealth of homegrown talent.
Attendees were treated to a three-course dinner overseen by chefs Neil Perry and Wolfgang Puck and a live performance from acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy. Three prodigious Australian talents – Ben Mendelsohn, Catherine Martin, and David Hill – were also recognised for their enormous contributions to the entertainment industry.
We’re absolutely thrilled at the amount of opportunities like this available to up-and-coming talent in Australia, particularly when they are as hard working and dedicated at Katrina and her colleagues. It goes to show, all you have to do is reach for the stars, and very soon you’ll be one.
